Located just a short ferry ride away from Mukilteo, near Seattle, Whidbey Island is an easy jaunt for visitors. Unfortunately, outside of the Northwest, it is not well-known, typically getting passed up in favour of the popular and more crowded San Juan Islands.
Most visitors to Oahu either stay in Waikiki's crowded one-mile block, or choose to stay up in the remote North Shore. However, just a short 30-minute drive from Honolulu lies a quaint beach town filled with stunning white sand beaches and plenty of aloha.
The heat of Adelaide's summer days send people flocking to the water. The city's beaches are a great place to start, but the prevalence of sharks in this area of Australia make me wary of swimming out too deep.
