http://www.mynewyork.co.uk -- Every summer season, New York City’s beaches are a favorite recreation destination. The Health Department provides the latest water quality information to ensure that your trip to the beach will be a safe and healthy one. Water quality conditions are analyzed on a regular basis and beaches are classified as either "Open for Swimming," "Under Advisory," or "Closed – Temporarily Restricted for Bathing." If there are advisories due to wet weather conditions or increased pollution levels, they will be available here or by calling 311.
Five Awesome New York Beaches:
Rockaway Beach:
Yeah, yeah, yeah…I just told you I grew up here. But that does not mean Rockaway Beach is not great. Once considered the summer getaway destination for the rich and famous in the early 20th century, the Rockaway lost most of those wealthy visitors when they packed up and moved to the Hamptons to get even further away from Manhattan (and not so rich people) for a long weekend.
Long Beach:
At this not-too-crowded beach just a few blocks from the LIRR, boardwalk vendors rent out umbrellas ($12) and lounge chairs ($8 each), so you don’t have to lug them from home.
Orchard Beach:
The crescent-shaped beach is only 1.1 miles long and is entirely man-made, with minimal waves.
Robert Moses Beach
This Long Island state park is a little farther out, but it might be worth the extra travel time if Jones is too crowded for you—and if you have a car (the easiest way to get here). Be forewarned that the easternmost stretch, called Field 5 is clothing-optional.
Manhattan Beach
Manhattan Beach may seem like a bit of a paradox, considering that the sandy areas are bordered by a concrete promenade, but the atmosphere is calm and quiet: a more peaceful alternative to neighboring Coney Island.
A holiday to New York and the city of New York will be a special vacation for the entire family. The tours available are something everyone can enjoy. You need to take some time for your City Break New York to include a few of the museums and other historical sites. Between the tours and other attractions, you will find something new and exciting to do every day that you are in the exciting city of New York.
