Toandfromtheairport.com is a valuable resource that fills an important niche in a critical aspect of travel planning information.

There’s a pretty good chance that when you travel you will start off by taking a flight to another country and land at a foreign airport.  Everything there may be alien to your regular life, the language may be different, you may well be tired and disoriented from the flight.

Planning your first moves from the airport can be the most daunting step of a new backpacking adventure.  Equally, getting to the airport to go home or go to your next destination and not miss your flight is arguably easier said than done.  A George Winters quote on the site neatly sums this experience up: “If God had really intended man to fly, He’d make it easier to get to the airport”.

The more popular airports of the world listed on the site have an extensive amount of options and timetables of services to get you to and from the airport.  Generally, this information includes: Airport, Location, Airport Facilities, Taxi Info, Bus Info, Train Info, Rental Car companies and Phone numbers.  Distances to the centre of town or to other places are also often noted.

I particularly like the “Photo of the Month” of airport related images.  I’m no plane-spotter but I reckon I’ve taken a few snaps at airports or enroute.

Keeping the site up to date with pricing and schedules of services especially is an impossible task and there are many airports that feature no more than a listing.  These tend to be not so visited airports.  You can help keep the published airport information relevant by emailing the site creator Steve Pell a standardised “Airport Form” of to and from the airport information.

Who would use the site?

Travellers in need of specific airport information to help their travel planning.

Conclusion:

For every airport you’ve ever heard of, there’s another you never have.  This site is a great starting point for finding out basic airport information that may well later benefit your travel decision making.
